A Standing Spot with Superb Coffee
It’s a super sleek spot suited specifically for standers. Standers are people that like to stand, for all you couch junkies. It’s an interesting experience, staring out the window with my laptop on a counter and I’m standing. Rather than seated hunched over the side of a desk.
Pauline’s is also just mad about coffee, with single origins changing every so often to ensure your taste buds are kept captivated. Their coffee has got to be one of the best in town, but I guess that makes sense given that they’re linked to Rosetta. The coffee is simply sensational, making every sip feel like a new experience.
They’ve got a quinoa, kale and dark chocolate banana bread. It’s is so full of flavour, you’ll be wanting more all afternoon. They’ve also got a sourdough cinnamon bun and a vegan millionaire shortbread. Jared the barista described the shortbread as a soft biscuit with a top layer of chocolate mousse goodness and a pinch of salt.
All aesthetics feel perfectly placed and super stylish, squashed into a narrow room, almost like a New York styled café. Inside it’s a creamy compilation of white surfaces and hessian styled carpets covering the inside of the caffeinated cave.
There are no chairs or stools, meaning people must use their own legs to stand, can you imagine? It’s actually pretty nice and gets your blood flowing, once you get used to it. If you are desperate for a seat, they do have a little sitting area situated outside around an old open tree.
If you’re super stylish and looking for something different, Pauline’s is the spot for you. They’ve got coffee that will knock your socks off and food that will make you put them back on again. Located on 277 Main Road, it’s an easy stop and go for those entering or leaving Sea Point.
