An Age-Old Classic with the Best Views in Mouille Point
Newport Deli is an absolute classic that has rocked the shores of Sea Point since 1997. The views are to die for and the food is honestly to cry for. Newport Deli offers the full package deal with amazing food, decent coffee and views that will make you want to immigrate to the suburb of Sea Point.
The crowd that cruise through to Newport Deli are a lil’ older than your usual coffee shop crowd. It’s a place that has built strong brand loyalty with their customers over their many years of operation. Newport Deli has been on the block for ages, founded in 1997 to serve the Sea Point sippers. It’s real deal sort of coffee shop, focusing on conversation by only offering you 30 minutes free wifi.
Everything in Newport Deli is super simple but the fine touches create a real classy feeling making it a great place to impress your mother in law. If the food doesn’t impress your mother in law, then you better pray the scenery does. The one side of New Port Deli looks over Green Point Park with Devil’s Peak, Signal Hill and Lion’s head standing strongly in the background. On the other side, you’ve got a view of the iconic red and white Mouille Point light house with the ocean falling into the distance.
Newport Deli is an age old classic, standing strong against the new competition on the block. The only thing in my books that lets it down is that it doesn’t offer wifi but the views and food for sure make up for that.
Coffee & Food:
The coffee at Newport Deli is good, served a lil’ too hot but the coffee flavours still comes through like it’s meant to be an ice cream parlour. It’s got that traditional sort of coffee taste, the one where the coffee is inoffensive but definitely not bad. I guess that makes sense cause this place has been here forever.
The bran muffin is served hot and healthy and to be blunt, is bloody delicious. It’s seedy and crispy on top while moist and memorable on the inside. Each bite left me staring blankly at the steaming sensation that was my muffin. Their baked goods are all outrageously good and if you buy them as a take-away option, they’re an absolute steal. If you’re looking for something a lil’ more substantial, they’ve got wraps, sandwiches, burgers and pastas, all pretty reasonably priced considering New Port Deli is in Mouille Point.
If you’re looking for a place to treat your children or impress your mother in-law, pop into Newport Deli located on 125 Beach Road, Mouille Point in Cape Town.
