  • Honest Chocolate makes fantastic coffee as depicted in this photo of coffee with a latte art on a wooden chair.
The coffee was pretty delicious even with the distraction of all the cacao wondering around.

A Legendary Cape Town Cafe

Honest Chocolate is a legendary spot with a brown heart of goodness in central Cape Town. It’s got to have some of the best treats in town and an atmosphere that will light up your life. If you’re looking for a place filled with delicacies and delights, then Honest Chocolate might be just about perfect.

Coffee and Hot Chocolate:

The coffee is perfectly prepared, filled with a layer of micro-foam that sits above the coffee like a leaf floating above a lake. The actual coffee is a light roast that makes the coffee easy drinking and allows for subtle flavour notes to surface on the palate. I’m a coffee man but if you’re looking for the best hot chocolate in town, you’re reading the right post. The hot chocolate looks like molten chocolate, almost like a chocolate fountain in a glass.

Food and Chocolate:

But let’s be honest, all you want to know about is their chocolate goodness, especially when all you can smell is fresh chocolate in the air. If you’re looking for something cheap, the bran and dark chocolate muffin is your guy offering a sensational ride on the chocolate roller coaster. They’ve also got a banana bread bunny chow, which is a mini banana bread filled with chocolate spread. It’s served with ice cream and roasted nuts, basically making it a molten chocolate cake on steroids. Other specialties on the menu include the nachos & chocolate spread and a sweet potato brownie.

Atmosphere:

The café itself is as cute as a kid on Christmas day. As you enter, it’s a small skinny alley with tons of chocolate goodness on the one side and tables and chairs on the other. The building itself is an old historic commune that I reckon has sat there for at least a century. The big window in the front allows for tons of natural light to flow in. The window is great for looking up in mid thought for a bit of inspiration before putting your head down to work once more.

If you walk through the skinny alley way, you’ll end up in the sunlit quad at the back that’s filled with chairs and tables for bigger groups of people. It’s a great place to meet some old buds or have a meeting without the distraction of passers-by. Even if you’re not feeling the best, the natural light in the back will make you look like Marilyn Monroe in her hey-day. The style of Honest Chocolate Café is completely in line with the brand, authentic, real and filled with natural light and laughter.

If you’re looking to treat yourself and eat your worries away, Honest Chocolate Café on Wale Street is your spot. They’ve got coffee, tea and a range of chocolate delicacies that will tenderize your taste buds. If you’re looking for a quiet meeting spot in town or just want to indulge a little. Pop into Honest Chocolate Café located on 64A Wale Street in Central Cape Town.
