Hello Sailor is a Coffee Shop Classic in Observatory

Hello Sailor is a character-filled find on Lower Main Road in Observatory. Hello Sailor is a coffee shop in Observatory that sells everything from coffee and breakfasts to beers and burgers. Hello Sailor is all about welcoming that old matey aboard and showing him or her how to rock the boat.

Atmosphere:

If there was ever a coffee shop that encapsulated the vibe of the movie, “The Boat that Rocked”, it’s this one. A range of tunes blast in the background that include Blues, Jazz and soulful Rock-n-Roll that make you want to order a beer in the morning. Apart from the music, the room is filled with laughter, chatter and general conversation that just makes you realise, we’re all down to engage.

Hello Sailor is filled with all things sailor which include beers, bits of boats and more booze. No piece of furniture is the same and neither is anyone that walks through the door. It’s definitely a social space, with friends, colleagues and couples chatting at tables. It may just be the Sunday vibe but it’s bustling and busy and damn good entertainment if you’re just sitting on your own.

Coffee & Food:

The coffee is good, tasty to the top and warming my insides on a freezing cold winter’s day. It’s a deluxe done right even though the latte art isn’t the best I’ve ever seen. The presentation is simple, just how I would expect a sailor to serve a cup of coffee, plain and simple.

I had the sweet Potato Fritters with poached eggs, spinach, mushrooms and Hollandaise sauce which were so good, I’d be happy if it were my last meal before the boat sunk. I can honestly say that was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time, so good that I don’t want to wash my mouth out with anything. The menu is mixed with many types of magic consisting mainly of your classics like breakfast, burgers and homely meals but all of them have a twist that will tantalize your tastebuds. It’s a l’il expensive but it’s totally worth it if you think it might be your last meal.

If you’re in Observatory and looking for a character-filled spot to do some work or meet up with some friends, then Hello Sailor in Observatory is perfect for you. Located on 86 Lower Main Road, it’s a bit difficult to find parking right there but if you’re willing to park around the corner, it’s just a hop, skip and jump away.
