A Long-Lost Buddy kind of Cafe in Salt River
We’ve had our reservations about Ecco Cafe before, not sure why but something just put us off. However, after coming here, I’ve been blown away. The food is pretty damn fine, especially considering how reasonably priced it is and how good the coffee is, it’ll make kids convert from candy.
The vibe in the air is full of hope and happiness. Students pop in to keep on the caffeine train, Salt River start-ups pop in to chat collaboration and passer-by’s sit sacredly smoking their ciggies. It’s definitely an oasis for all things Salt River, with the vibe giving customers energy like a corporate on cocaine.
The actual coffee shop is filled with windows and wood, giving you the feeling that you’re in an urban forest. The staff are off the chain and will make you giggle every time you look around. They’re chatty, they’re cool and simply put, they’re a real good time. The staff will talk to you like you’re their long-lost buddy which is helpful when trying to impress a client.
I was hesitant about coming to Ecco il Cafe but my expectations have been blown out the water. Ecco il Cafe is a fantastic spot in Salt River and a great place to grab a student special. If you’re in Salt River and looking for a spot to grab a coffee, then Ecco Café is for you. It’s located on the corner of Cecil Road and Durham Ave, below the Devil’s Peak Taproom.
Coffee & Food:
The coffee is sweet, tasty and delicious and will put a smile on your face with every sip. They’ve got a couple hoppers filled with coffee so if you’re looking for variety in Salt River, this is your spot. They’ve got 3 different types of beans, a single origin by Origin, a blend by Deluxe and the blend built by Ecco. I went for the Ecco Blend and it was the exact kind of sweet I was looking for.
On their menu, they’ve got many mighty meals, ranging between breakfasts, bagels, burgers and other luscious lunches. I was there early so I had three fat flapjacks served with bacon and maple syrup which only set me back R51. If you’re a student, you’ve hit the jackpot as they’ve got student deals that will get your mojo working like a hot kid sitting opposite you in class. If you’re not a student but still on a budget, they’ve got some terrific treats to tantalize your tummy.
