Observatory, otherwise known is Obs is what we like to call Cape Town’s Capital of Coffee. There are many Coffee Shops within close proximity to each other in Observatory. The standard of coffee in Observatory is high because cafes care about quality.
Observatory is an incredibly integrated space and is probably the most integrated space in Cape Town. It’s also super student-y with the UCT, CPUT, VEGA, Varsity College, Damelin College and the Metropolitan Training Academy all being around the corner from one another. All of them studying and all of them a fan of caffeine, it makes total sense that there would be a big supply of them for the area.
The best Coffee in Observatory with regards to the quality of the espresso would be Rust. Our favourite for coffee as a whole, Saint James and the Drawing Room give up a good fight. However, if you’re into atmosphere and a homely vibe, I think Ground Zero is your best bet.
