It's rustic and it's lekker, making you feel like you're eating at a shop from the 1800's.

A Coffee Shop filled with Character in Claremont

Cafeen is a fantastic little spot located in Claremont. There’s nothing much else near it but that doesn’t stop the owners from trying their best. It’s definitely a spot known well among the Claremont community, so we thought we’d check it out and see what the hype was all about.

Coffee:

The coffee arrived on the table, looking like it had been entered for Miss South Africa, the latte art on top appearing like a Luis Vuitton on a model walking the cat walk. The taste was unfortunately a bit disappointing, letting a model down like an unseen rock on the runway.

Food:

Apparently, they’re known for their eggs bennie, so I gave it a smash. It’s tasted like an angel het op my tongue gepipi. If you don’t get this reference, you’re too young. Basically, it’s downright delicious and will leave you lingering for more. The menu  is full of outstanding options but if you’re on a budget, it might be a lil’ expensive.

Atmosphere:

The vibe inside is cool and quaint, with the chairs and tables looking like they were bought at a jack of all trades vintage store. The furniture is so diverse in the room that they’ve even got a church pew in case you feel guilty for choosing coffee over church on a Sunday. It’s a character filled fiasco with chandeliers and signs filling the room with the feeling of nostalgia.

It’s a fantastic location, overlooking the park the sits outside in front of Devil’s Peak. As you sit inside, the wide-open windows fill the walls allowing you to gaze upon the green park that sits alongside the store. If it’s a sunny day, the outside is an absolute must, offering sunshine and smiles to all chaperones inside.

It’s a fantastic little spot for friends and family to meet up, especially considering their breakfasts are out of this world. If you’re keen to have a coffee with the girls or breakfast with the boys, Cafeen is great spot located at 41 on 3rd Avenue in Claremont.
